STREET ANGELS ARE COMING TO MACCLESFIELD

Street Angels was originally launched by churches together in Halifax in November 2005.

Inspired to look at needs in the Town Centre the thought of running a safe place was discussed with the Halifax police at a town forum meeting. Two weeks later Street Angels was launched running every Friday and Saturday from 9pm to 3am. Halifax Street Angels is still going strong and over the time there has been a 42% reduction in violent crime in the town. They are now in operation in many other Towns and cities across the UK and elsewhere in the world. For more information please see www.streetangels.org.uk.

Street Angels is an exciting new ministry which we hope to launch through HOPE in Macclesfield. It will show that the church cares about the community of Macclesfield and about the problems associated with the night time economy. So many of our town and city centres change on Friday and Saturday nights and Macclesfield is no exception.

Street Angels is about offering those who become vulnerable a safe solution that will see them getting home safe. Whether it be people leaving the cinema, concerts or restaurants, those who work in the town centre, those waiting for a bus or taxi home, or those out clubbing and in the pubs
