NEW DEFENDER FOR THE SILKMEN

Macclesfield Town have signed French defender Thierry Audel, who was with Italian club Pisa last season, subject to the player recieving international clearance.

The player, who can play central or right side of defence began his career in junior football in Nice and FC Istres before starting his senior career at Auxerre where he featured regularly in their B side for a season, before moving to Slovenian side Izola.

He then moved to Italy with a move to Triestina (above) from where he had a succesful loan to Serie B side San Marino where he played 32 times.

After a return to Triestina, and a trial spell at Portsmouth, he moved to AC Pisa in Serie C, and remained for two seasons before trying his hand again in the English football. It is hoped that the player will be available in time to make his debut against Braintree, but this depends in receiving international clearance in time.

We spoke to him when he put pen to paper.
