PEAKS & PLAINS CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF HARRY LAWSON COURT

Macclesfield-based housing trust, Peaks & Plains held a special event to celebrate the 25th anniversay of its sheltered housing scheme, Harry Lawson Court.

The scheme is named after Harry Lawson, a Macclesfield resident who served with the RAF and completed many missions in Germany during World War II. On return from the war, Harry became involved with politics and decided to stand as a local councillor, and was elected as Alderman for the North West Ward, Macclesfield Borough where he served for 30 years. Harry was also Chairman for the Housing Services Committee for over 20 years.

Harry died in 1984 at the age of 62. Four years later, a new sheltered housing scheme was opened offering 59 flats for anyone aged 55 or over and was named in Harry
