Bollington SciBar: CERN, the LHC and the Higgs boson

Ever wanted to know quarks, leptons and bosons are? Especially *that* boson?

What does the Large Hadron Collider do?

How did scientists discover the Higgs particle?

What is there yet to discover?

Ian Duerdoth recently retired from The University of Manchester, Dept of Physics and Astronomy will explain all at Bollington SciBar at The Vale Inn, Adlington Road, Bollington – on Monday evening, September 8th at 6.30 pm

Ian worked at CERN for many years, latterly on the silicon tracker detector for the ATLAS experiment on the Large Hadron Collider. He is a volunteer at the Museum of Science and Industry’s Collider exhibition, which runs till 28 September.

The event is free and all are welcome.

Arrive early to get a chance of a seat.
