Police issue E-fit following Macclesfield fraud incident

Cheshire Police have issued an e-fit in connection with an incident in the Manchester Road area of Macclesfield.

The incident took place on Wednesday 11th February when a woman received a phone call from a man claiming to be a police officer, informing her that she had been a victim of a counterfeit money scam.

The man then told the victim to withdraw money from her bank account which would be collected later that day and at around 4.30pm, a man arrived at her address to take the money.

The victim reported the incident to police that evening when she realized she had been the victim of fraud, and now police continue their investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding what happened.

Police are now appealing for information in relation to the incident, and wish to locate the man in the e-fit image. He wore smart grey trousers and a white shirt, and was around 5′6″ in height.

Anyone who was in the Manchester Road area at the time and may have seen the man, or has any information which might assist in their enquiries, is urged to call the police on 101 quoting incident 966 of 11/02/2015 or alternatively to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
