Were you in Sandwich Road. Betchton on 23rd April?

Cheshire police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision between a HGV and a motorcyclist on the A533 Sandbach Road in Betchton on Thursday 23rd April 2015.

A HGV turned left from the A533 into the B5078 Chells Hill at approximately 3.17pm when the collision occurred.

Unfortunately the rider of the motorcycle, a 19-year-old man from Sandbach, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the HGV, a 44-year-old man, was arrested at the scene and has since been released on police bail.

PC Gary Mullins said: “We are keen to trace the driver of a white transit van who was heading towards Sandbach behind the HGV which was a blue and orange ‘HEIJBOER’ transport lorry. The driver initially stopped but then left the scene and may not be aware of the seriousness of the accident.

“We would also like to trace the drivers of three vehicles that were approaching the A533 from the B5078 just prior to the accident. These vehicles are described as a white saloon and two black hatch backs one possible a Honda. 

“One final vehicle that police are keen to speak to is the driver of a small black vehicle with a white roof possibly a Mini. This vehicle was travelling towards Rode Heath along the A533 and passed the HGV just prior to the collsion.”
