Award winning PR agency celebrates five years of success

Celebrations are underway for the team at Macclesfield PR agency Skout, as the company marks its five year anniversary, scores a top award win and continues to expand its workforce and B2B client-base.
MD Rob Skinner established Skout in 2010, following fifteen years of working in B2B technology PR. Skinner saw that there was a gap in the PR market for an agency that helped clients to tell their natural and authentic stories. Skout’s Natural Storytelling approach was then born and since, Skout has established its B2B niche with clients in technology, procurement, finance, public and professional services sectors. Earlier this year, the agency took on reputable North West law firm SAS Daniels as a client, and more recently added a temporary staffing recruitment specialist and a leading alternative finance provider to its portfolio.
Skout has been based in Macclesfield’s Market Place for several years and become part of the town’s vibrant media scene. For the past three years, Skout has gone beyond delivering PR services and offers content programmes and integrated marketing campaigns to clients as it recognises their growing marketing needs.
Despite still being in its infancy, Skout has already been shortlisted for six awards, and won two. The most recent award win was the Prolific North Award for B2B/integrated marketing campaign of the year, which Skout received with its inaugural client Wax Digital.
Rob Skinner, Skout’s MD said: “Before setting up Skout, I thought that many organisations were missing a trick by not finding the best stories to generate publicity by. A lot of PR agencies were spending money on PR stunts, so I wanted to create an agency that got back to the basics of storytelling.
“In establishing a name for the agency, I came across the word ‘Skout.’ I liked the idea of running an agency that was resilient and prepared like the Scouts, and could scout or forage for stories to tell. Our Natural Storytelling approach has proved invaluable and we’ve been profitable since day one.”
Skout’s long-term plan is to become a leader in the UK B2B marketing sector and to enhance its national presence. The agency has started to expand its team by taking on a graduate and more recently an apprentice.
