MP supports artisan fair

Local MP, David Rutley, joined in the fun for all the family, as he supported the Poynton Village Fair, along with Pegga Pig and the gang from the Disney film “Frozen” in Poynton Civic Hall.

Many people came to attend the event, which was a new commercial venture to promote local artisans and their wide range of products on offer. While the quality of the goods caught the eye of many adults who attended, Peppa and his Disney friends for the day gave children a wonderful photo opportunity, for their parents.

The Fair was the brainchild of Kerry Burgess, the owner of Cheshire Books. Kerry was keen to find a way to increase income for local businesses, and allow people to find out more about artisans in the Poynton area. The event also ensured that the Civic Centre was bustling on Saturday, and helped establish a new event for the community calendar.

Speaking at the event, David said, “I would like to thank Kerry and the other organisers, for all their hard work in ensuring that this exciting new initiative was a success. A lot of people are keen to shop locally whenever possible, so today provided them with the opportunity to do so and for traders to meet new customers. I am very encouraged by the number of people who attended.”
