Why do children love bubbles?

I have a lot of theories… mainly children love bubbles because they are magical, AND because they get to destroy them afterwards.

What’s so special about bubbles?

Bubbles pull everyone into the moment – they are about what’s happening now. It is very hard to see bubbles in front of you and think about something else.

What’s the strangest object you’ve put in a bubble?

‘I’ve put a lot of strange people in bubbles. Once I was performing at a wedding and was assigned to put the bride and groom into a large rainbow. The groom was so drunk… It was impossible but hilarious.’

Is there a special formula to making bubbles?

There is a simple recipe in the UK, which is water and original Fairy liquid. About 16 parts water to 1 part Fairy. To make the bubbles stay moist, add glycerin. To get the super big bubbles add guar or zanthan gum for stretch.’

What’s the most memorable show you’ve performed?

I did a private show for the late Robbin Williams and his kids about 20 years ago. Robin shook my hand afterwards and I was aware that he was the only person there who understood that high feeling you get after a good stage show. That was a special moment.
