Northern Ballet’s Tortoise & the Hare

Following the sell-out successes of its previous children’s ballets, Northern Ballet now comes to Buxton with its new short ballet, Tortoise & the Hare. Part of an extensive national tour throughout spring 2016, Tortoise & the Hare will be performed at Buxton Opera House on Monday 15 February.

Tortoise & the Hare is a re-imagining of Aesop’s much-loved fable of a Tortoise who, tired of being teased for his slowness, challenges a speedy Hare to a race. Lasting approximately 40 minutes, the ballet has been created especially for children and young families to experience and enjoy live dance, music and theatre.

Daniel de Andrade, Northern Ballet’s Artistic Director of Short Ballets for Small People, said: “These ballets are classic tales beautifully retold through dance and are the perfect introduction to ballet for children and young families.”

The Tortoise & the Hare is at Buxton Opera House on Monday 15 February at 2pm, 4pm and 6pm. Tickets are currently on sale at £8 for adults and £6 for children. To buy tickets or for more information call the Box Office on 01298 72190 or book online at www.buxtonoperahouse.org.uk
