Step into spring with National Park rangers

Need fresh air and exercise? Take a walk in the Peak District with a National Park ranger and discover great routes in naturally beautiful surroundings.

The rangers organise a varied events programme with walks to choose from throughout the year in different parts of the Peak District National Park.

National Park ranger Jenny Waller said: “Coming along on one of our ranger events is a great way to enjoy the countryside and explore the place. Walking is a great way to experience the Peak District, to improve your fitness and stay healthy whatever your age or ability, and our rangers are always keen to share their stories and knowledge about their patch.”

Booking is now available online for all events with National Park rangers, including walks exploring the hills around Axe Edge on Saturday February 20, discovering the lanes around Litton on Sunday February 28, and experiencing a ranger patrol in the Goyt Valley on Sunday March 6.

These walks cost £6 per person aged 18 and over, children aged 17 and below go free.

To make a booking, or find out more about events coming up, go to www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/events.

The money raised from ticket sales is used to help maintain paths and trails in the Peak District National Park.

The programme also provides opportunities for groups to book personalised events, including aircraft wreck walks, bat experience evenings, mountain bike skills and orienteering. Email customer.service@peakdistrict.gov.uk to discuss the options for bespoke events.
