Police appeal following M6 fatal collision

Officers from Cheshire Roads Policing Team are appealing for information following a fatal collision on the M6.

The collision occurred at approximately 5.30am on Saturday 6th February 2016 on the northbound carriageway on the M6 between junctions 17 and 18.

The collision, which occurred approximately ¼ mile prior to junction 18 and involved a dark grey Vauxhall Astra and a white heavy goods vehicle.

Following the collision, the driver of the Astra, a 20-year-old-man from Staffordshire, was taken to Leighton Hospital Crewe with serious injuries, but died a short time later. The driver of the goods vehicle, a 44-year-old man from Leicestershire, was uninjured.

Sergeant Paul Marsh said: “As part of our investigation I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the collision. I am also like to speak to anyone who believes that they may have seen the Astra prior to the collision occurring.”
