First apprentices for Cheshire Constabulary

Thirteen eager individuals were welcomed to the Constabulary this week by Chief Constable Simon Byrne and Cheshire Police and Crime Commissioner David Keane.

Monday 20 June, saw fresh faced individuals start their apprenticeships with the Constabulary, the first ever Apprenticeship Scheme the Constabulary has offered.

Chief Constable Simon Byrne said: “The Apprenticeship Scheme is all about innovation and encouraging fresh faces to join the organisation. It is an opportunity for young people with creative innovative ideas to come in and help shape the future of policing.

There is so much opportunity for change and growth within the Constabulary and one of these apprentices might have the game changing idea that will really help improve what we do.”

The apprentices have been placed in a variety of roles throughout the Constabulary headquarters and in the Police & Crime Commissioners office. The scheme offers the apprentices a level 2 Business and Administration qualification and the experience of working in a fast paced, innovative and successful police force.

Cheshire Police & Crime Commissioner David Keane said: “I’m pleased to see the Constabulary supporting young people and giving them the opportunity to train and begin their careers in the police service.

Opportunities range from working in IT, and the solicitors office, to my office – the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner. I wish them luck with their new roles and their future with the Constabulary.”

Recruitment lines for the next intake of the Apprenticeship Scheme will be opening soon. Keep your eye on the Cheshire Police website for further information. www.cheshire.police.co.uk
