MP thanks local postal workers

At the busiest time of the year for postal workers at the Royal Mail’s Macclesfield Delivery Office, local MP, David Rutley, paid a visit to pass on his thanks and Christmas wishes to all the local ‘posties’

David as shown around the office by Mark Bethell, Delivery Office Manager, and was introduced to the hard working postmen and women, who are busy sorting and delivering mail in the Macclesfield area, ahead of the festive season.

The Royal Mail has this year commemorated the 500th anniversary of the knighting of Brian Tuke, the first Master of the Posts, by King Henry VIII, which initiated the creation of what is today known as Royal Mail. To this day, Royal Mail plays an important role in delivering Christmas for consumers and businesses alike.

Following the visit, David said, “It was great to once again meet the team here at Macclesfield Delivery Office, and thank them all for their efforts over the busy festive period.

“Our postal workers do such an important job at this time of year, and my visit today has reminded me just how much effort and dedication goes into delivering an excellent service at the Royal Mail’s busiest time of year. I would like to wish them all the best for the Christmas season and the year ahead.”

Mark Bethell, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager at Macclesfield, commented, “It was a pleasure to show David our Christmas operation and to hear his kind words of encouragement and support.”

“We are extremely proud of our postmen and women for all their hard work during the Festive Season and for continuing our proud history of delivering Christmas mail.”
