MP put through his paces

Local MP, David Rutley, joined a training session at 5S Fitness in Macclesfield with the 5S Born Survivor Team, ahead of the Born Survivor obstacle race event at Capesthorne Hall on the 13th May.

5S Fitness run specialised training sessions for those who wish to take part in obstacle course races, such as Born Survivor. Born Survivor courses are set in stunning locations across the country and use the natural terrain to host military inspired obstacle challenges. David has accepted an invitation to start the event on 13th May, and will set off thousands of participants around the ten kilometre course.

The team at 5S Fitness, based on Hurdsfield Road in Macclesfield, work hard to take the principles of strength and conditioning and apply them to professional athletes and members of the public to help individuals get in great shape. In advance of the Born Survivor event, they are helping local participants prepare for and take part in the event. They currently have fifty people signed up to participate.

As part of this training, the team are hosting weekly training sessions. Those sessions make use of 5S Fitness’ training rig, which is one of the biggest in the north of England. David joined the 5S Born Survivor Team for one such session, where he met Jay Curtis, founder of 5S Fitness, and local Obstacle Course Race athletes, including Shaun Wilde and Jason Burgess. Further information about the training sessions can be found here: http://5sfitness.co.uk/.

Speaking after the training sessions, David said: “It is great to see a big event like Born Survivor coming to the Macclesfield constituency, and I am looking forward to welcoming all the participants in May. It is positive to see more and more people taking part in outdoor activities like this, and I would like to thank the team at 5S Fitness for all the work they are doing to promote this form of exercise. I wish all of the Born Survivor participants the very best of luck with their preparations and on the day during the race.”
