Derren Brown – Underground

Derren Brown the multi-award winning master of psychological illusion is back on tour – stopping off at Buxton Opera House for three nights – from 28 to 30 August 2017.

His current show Underground features a collection of some of the very best of his previous stage work brought together into a spell-binding experience of showmanship and magical genius.

Derren comments: “It’s not a brand new show, rather an opportunity to see me perform some of my own choice of favourite bits from the past fourteen years of touring.  Hopefully, it will be just as rewarding an experience for those who have seen me before as it will be for first-timers”.

Born in Croydon in 1971, Derren traces his interest in magic and psychological techniques to childhood, but it was only later at Bristol University, where he studied Law and German that he started to take it seriously. After graduating, Derren abandoned a career in Law and concentrated on developing his skills at psychological magic. He was able to pay the bills by combining performing in cafés and bars with a sideline in portraiture.

His big break came in 1999 when he was asked by Channel 4 to put a TV show together. The result, Derren Brown: Mind Control, was shown in December 2000, proving an immediate success.

Derren has toured every year since 2003 and has been watched by an estimated audience of nearly two million people. He has won prestigious Olivier Awards, for Something Wicked this Way Comes (2006) and Svengali (2012). His last show, Miracle was his most daring to date and was universally acclaimed by critics and the world-wide audience alike. Derren last appeared at Buxton Opera House in 2008.

Derren Brown: Underground – Monday 28 to Wednesday 30 August at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £38.
