Pharaoh’s Headdress, West Park Museum

Tuesday 1 August, 1.30-3.30pm, drop-in

Be inspired by our Egyptian collections and create your own headdress fit for a Pharaoh. £3 per person

 

Animal Wall Plaques, The Old Sunday School

Wednesday 2 August, 1.30-3.30pm, drop-in

Some people have flying ducks on their walls, but today you can make your own Animal Head wall plaque. £3 per person

 

Printed Silk Lanterns, The Silk Museum

Thursday 3 August, 1.30-3.30pm, drop-in

Inspired by the shape of India’s Taj Mahal and Indian paisley shawls, you can create your own pattern, print onto silk and produce a beautiful flickeringly lit lantern. £5 per person

 

Panda Door hangers, West Park Museum

Come and make a hanger for your bedroom door in the shape of a panda. It could have your name on it or just ‘do not disturb’! £3 per person

 

Arrr Shipmate! Pirate Treasure Hunt, The Old Sunday School

Make a pirate hat, eye-patch and flapping parrot, and go on a treasure hunt to uncover a bar of gold. £3 per person

 

Elephants and Peacocks, The Silk Museum

Come and discover the colourful world of Indian elephants and peacocks with artist Nikki Parmenter! Make your own mixed media peacock feather or elephant using a range of exciting materials. £5 per person

 

Cat Mummies, West Park Museum

The Egyptians prepared animal mummies as offerings to the gods, cat mummies were believed to represent the war goddess Bastet, so join us to make your own mummified Tiddles. £3 per person

 

Printed Parachutes, The Old Sunday School

Decorate your own miniature silk parachute, attach your airman and watch him drift to a soft or crash landing! £3 per person

 

Magnificent Monsters, The Silk Museum

Thursday 17 August, 10-11am, 11.30am-12.30pm, 1-2pm, 2.30-3.30pm

Create your own magnificent monsters and creative creatures with glowing LED eyes in this fun, e-textile workshop. Have a go at some simple weaving to create your own panda-face hanging. £3 per person

Make your own kazoo, shaker and tambourine out of recycled materials. £3 per person

 

Woven Dream Catcher, The Silk Museum

In a town once filled with weaving, we invite you to weave some dreams and create your own fabulous dream catcher decorated with ribbons, feathers and beads. £5 per person

 

Canopic Jars, West Park Museum

When mummifying bodies all the essential organs were removed and placed in canopic jars. Make your own canopic jar to the god Qebehsenuef filled with intestines. £3 per person

Access: 3 flights of stairs, no wheelchair access; if you need to use the lift then please speak to a member of staff when booking your ticket

Joint Visit Silk Museum and Paradise Mill: £8, £7, children free
