Macclesfield Festival – win an admission ticket

Time is running out if you want to enter our free competition to win tickets to the inaugural family friendly Macclesfield Festival – which will be opening its doors on 22nd July at Macclesfield Rugby Club on Priory Lane.

ilovemacc has two tickets up for grabs.

All correct answers will go into a draw and the two winning entries will be advised by 5 pm on Friday, July 14th.

Welcome to the first year of Cheshire’s premier family friendly festival set in the idyllic Cheshire countryside. There is something for everyone at Macclesfield Festival, and this year we are very excited to bring you a feast of live music, family entertainment and more. The event opens at 10am. The funfair, live music, and entertainment will start immediately; dance tents will start at midday.

Macclesfield Rocks Main Live Music Stage Sponsored by Silk FM (12pm-8pm)

On the main live music stage you will find a blend of Macclesfield’s finest talent, alongside established worldwide renowned artists. Jazz and funk band The Brand New Heavies will bring the ultra-cool summertime vibes, they are best known for tracks such as Dream On Dreamer, Back To Love, and Midnight At The Oasis.

Dodgy who are best known for hits like “Staying Out for the Summer” and “Good Enough”, will also take main the main stage, alongside The Farm who are best known for their hit single “All Together Now” which turned into a national anthem.

Satisfying the regions passion for SKA music we have The Manchester SKA Foundation who regularly sells out local venues in Macclesfield and Buxton. Lead singer Lee Hollister is renowned for his high energy performances including all your favourite SKA classics.

Some very talented local Macclesfield bands have made this year’s line-up. The New Breed are a fresh, Rock N Roll band, encompassing everything great about the 70s and 80s of music, whilst driving proper Rock N Roll into a modern era. Dandelion Rose are an eclectic three piece band from Macclesfield who have a very distinctive sound and style. They will be releasing their first EP this year, the band are quickly gaining a cult following from all over the country. Highly talented local singer/songwriter Hugo Kensdale also performs his latest single “Mermaids” live on the main stage.

Last but not least Low Orbit is a band consisting of five noise making humans from the North of England. They met and started jamming in Macclesfield. A mutual love of the Foo Fighters spawned some tasty rock riffs, which quickly mutated into the monstrous tracks they now are. They hope you like them, as they’re just getting started…

Kids Stage Sponsored by Superbowl UK Macclesfield and Families Cheshire Magazine (10.30am-7.30pm)

Headlining the kid’s stage and “makin’ a bad ting good” is everybody’s favourite musical mouse detective Rastamouse, and his band Da Easy Crew! Along with a very special guest Michael De Souza, they’ll be jammin’ live on stage performing some of their hit singles including, ‘Hot Hot Hot’ and ‘Ice Popp’, as well as performing a very special show just for Macclesfield Festival!

Part Of Your World Princesses will be also be performing on the kids stage live for our Grand Finale, featuring an all dancing, all singing, amazing array of your favourite Disney stars!

Sylk Dance Academy are a group of students who will be performing live at Macclesfield Festival on the Kids stage, get down to see them and show your support.

This talented bunch may inspire your young ones or even yourself to take up dancing too!

Stage Invaders Dance Academy has a very special performance they have choreographed especially for Macclesfield Festival!

The Rokiteers from Rokit Performing Arts will be providing a Rokit Pop style performance. The very talented bunch will provide a fantastic rendition of Faith by Stevie Wonder and Ariana Grande (from the movie Sing), and Scared of the Dark by Steps. They will also showcase some wonderful acting skills

Open the Door will be telling a wonderful story “We’re going on a bear hunt” by Michael Rosen. They will bring the story to life using drama and props and there will plenty of room for audience participation.

Energize Cheshire will also perform live on stage and will demonstrate what they do at competition level and perform some of their best routines.

Yesterday’s Reunion Tent (12pm-8pm) & Clubhouse After party Sponsored by Carlsberg (8pm-12am)

The party of all parties is about to embark upon us for the summer, you’ve all been waiting for this one, the one where the Cheshire set come out to play! Join us on a glamorous journey and a reunion of one of the best venues in the Cheshire countryside including resident DJ’s Jason Herd, David Dunne, Alan Hartley, Nev Johnson, Dave Ellis, JayC, Chris Anslow and Lee Crank. This is not to be missed for all you house music lovers!

For those of you that want to continue to party after the festival finishes you can carry straight through in the clubhouse after party which starts at 8pm until midnight with our Yesterday’s residents. There is a limited ticket allocation for the after party.

Northern Soul, Motown & Modern Soul Tent (12pm-8pm)

Hosted by Soul Boutique, who will be bringing you the best in Northern Soul, Motown, Soul, Funk and rare grooves.

House Anthems Tent (12pm-8pm)

A trio of Macclesfield’s finest old skool house DJ’s team up to bring you a House Anthems tent keeping the party pumping throughout the day.

 Giant Funfair (10am-8pm)

Ask for the fun fair in certain corners of the North West of England, and they’ll ask if you’re looking for Silcock’s – such is the fame of this long established fairground family from Warrington.

Today, with John Edward Silcock at the helm, JE Silcock’s Amusements is as strong as ever in Lancashire, Cheshire and increasingly further a field. As well as our ‘bread and butter’ fairs in market towns like Leigh and Ashton–in–Makerfield, we’ve also built up showpiece presentations at events like the St Helens Show, Creamfields and “V” music festivals and play a major part in such traditions such as the Warrington Walking Days.

Over many years we have established a good reputation and forged solid links with many local authorities, corporate bodies and other event organisers, as well as regularly assisting Round Table, Rotary Clubs and Lions organisations throughout the North West.
A full and varied range of attractions – from kiddie rides and food kiosks right up to the latest hi–tech thrill rides – means we can cater for almost any event. John Edward Silcock is a member of The Showmen’s Guild of Great Britain.

Macclesfield Festival’s Strongest Man Competition (11am-6pm)

Here’s your chance to see some of the Northwest’s strongest athletes prove their mettle in a battle of the titans. Strongman events will run throughout the day and winners will be announced by judges in a ceremony at 6.30pm

The Tytherington Club Golf Course (10am-8pm)

Cain Golf Academy will be hosting a ‘Tri Golf Corner’ at the Macclesfield Festival. Tri-Golf is a ‘mini’ version of golf for children, which involves the use of adapted equipment and a variety of games designed to provide an enjoyable introduction to the sport. The equipment is designed to be safe and fun and the games will be run by PGA qualified professionals. The clubheads are colour-coded and the balls are sponge, cones and other visual aids are used to aid in the ease of play and define areas of the games.

Games will consist of: Longest whacker, Closest to the ‘Bin’, Penalty shoot out!, ‘CAN’ you knock ‘em down?

Offers on lessons will be available on the day.

Movie costume groups and vehicles (10am-8pm)

For those into cult 80s TV and movies we have replicas of David Hasselhoff car in Knight Rider K.I.T.T, along with arguably the most famous van in history the A-Team Van. An American police car display and a stormtrooper Garrison will also be in attendance for the kids and the big kids that grew up in the 80s!

 VIP Clubhouse Experience (10am-8pm)

Experience Macclesfield festival in style with your VIP ticket. This ticket will gain you entry to the VIP clubhouse from 10am-8pm, with premier views of the Macclesfield Rocks Main Stage, plus a well-stocked private bar and entertainment. At 8pm, the clubhouse will close for the Macclesfield Festival After party, a separate after party ticket is required to attend. There is a limited allocation on these tickets.

Food & Catering (10am-8pm)

At Macclesfield Festival 2017 we aim to bring you a huge variety of choice when it comes to food & drink, and wherever possible use local suppliers. This year’s event will feature Almost Famous Burgers serving from their wondertruck. From fast food such as fish and chips to fragrant Thai curries, there will be something for everyone. Food including Thai, Jamaican, Indian, Roast Carver, Fish & Chips, Burgers, Pies & Pastries, Ice Cream, Cupcakes, Sweet Cones, Pick & Mixes, Cheese & Jams, Real Ale & Beer, and more added on a weekly basis.
