Cycling-friendly businesses celebrated their achievements in a breakfast awards event.

Welcoming Cyclists certificates were presented to businesses which have taken part in the Peak District National Park’s Pedal Peak for Business project.

The project runs workshops to help local businesses understand the needs of cycling customers and to boost their share of cycling tourism.

It is aimed predominantly at accommodation providers, but is also beneficial for cycle hire, cafes and other tourism businesses based in the vicinity of popular Peak District cycle trails.

Grants, workshops and an online guide are available to help businesses provide good facilities for cyclists and to make the most of the growing market.

The latest Biking Breakfast workshop was held at the Anglers Rest, Bamford. It included a tour of the facilities and a talk by Bamford Community Society chair Pam Kenworthy.

Pedal Peak for Business officer Carol Parsons said: “This networking breakfast celebrated the achievements of our ‘Cyclists Welcome’ graduates and provided a drop-in session to find out more about our ‘Inspired by the Peak District’ and ‘Pedal Peak for Business’ initiatives.”

Pedal Peak for Business is part of the £1.49million Growing the Visitor Economy in Derbyshire programme, part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) until 2019.

The initiative is led by the Peak District National Park Authority and supported by Derbyshire Dales District Council.
