Letter from 50’s air crash to be auctioned

A letter addressed to local silk manufacturers, Cartright & Sheldon, salvaged from an air crash in Singapore in 1954, is due to come up for sale shortly.

Cartwright & Sheldon was based in Paradise Mill, on Old Park Lane, now occupied by Macclesfield Silk Museum. The small family firm halted its hand weaving production in 1982.
