Nearly two million use Manchester Airport in March

Manchester Airport saw passenger levels hit just shy of two million passengers last month.

A total of 1,988,233 people used the airport’s three terminals in March – representing a year-on-year increase of 4%.

The figure saw Manchester Airport’s annual total hit 27,882,845 passengers – 6.4% more than the same period in 2016/17.

New routes from Manchester this year will include Jet2.com flights to Lanzarote and Primera Airlines flights to Malaga during Winter 2018.

Construction efforts on the airport’s £1 billion transformation programme continues, with a sixth tower crane installed in March to help with construction of a new multi-storey car park.

Manchester Airport CEO Andrew Cowan said: “It’s been another busy month for Manchester Airport with the start of the Easter getaway.

“We’re looking forward to our busiest ever summer with plenty of exciting route launches like Seattle with Thomas Cook Airlines and Cagliari, Palermo and Ponte Delgado with Ryanair.”
