Prepare for battle this Father’s Day weekend

The much anticipated Medieval Fayre comes to Tatton Park on Saturday, June 16 and Sunday, June 17.

The Fayre, in association with EventPlan, is one of the most atmospheric living history events in the North West and is a great family activity for this Father’s Day weekend!

Tatton’s historic Old Hall and grounds will echo to the flash of cannon and musket and twang of longbow as medieval warriors demonstrate their skills. And visitors will be very much a part of this sensational event, mingling with hundreds of re-enactors who will recreate a summer solstice spectacle. The Battle of Tatton Field grand finale is the highlight of the day; a jealous neighbour and his army are determined to wrestle the Old Hall from its rightful owner…with cheers and jeers from the crowd who will win the day?

Old Hall steward Mick Ricketts said “The Old Hall at Tatton is normally a tranquil place leaving the visitor with a feeling of peaceful times past and ghosts real and imagined. But every midsummer for over twenty years now this peace has been interrupted by our colourful, evocative and sometimes noisy Medieval Fayre where people gather from all over the country and beyond to realistically recreate life six hundred years ago.”

The fantastic festival atmosphere is further brought to life as authentic travelling traders set up their colourful tents in the beautiful grounds of the Old Hall, selling fine fabrics and wonderful artefacts. Good food, ale and mead will refresh the visitor and revive battle weary troops as medieval music fills the air and stirs the soul. With traditional entertainment including archery to enjoy, visitors will be truly immersed into an engaging and entertaining medieval experience.

The Old Hall will also be open for tours throughout the day providing an opportunity to view this much loved, magnificent medieval building.

The Medieval Fayre takes place at the Old Hall from 11am-5pm (last entry 4pm). Tickets are priced £7.50 for adults, £5.00 for children and £20.00 for a family (two adults and up to three children). Park entry is £7 per car. Call 01625 374400 or visit www.tattonpark.org.uk/events for more information.
