Ashfield staff smash corporate charity challenge

Staff from Ashfield Healthcare Communications in Macclesfield are celebrating after raising money for a local hospice and winning a trophy for their efforts in a corporate challenge.

Employees from the company’s three Macclesfield sites took part in East Cheshire Hospice’s month-long corporate challenge where teams were given a £100 loan to raise as much money as possible for the charity.

Ashfield raised an impressive £1226 for the hospice which provides specialist care and support for adults facing life limiting illness.

Georgina Cruse, account executive at Ashfield Healthcare Communications, which provides a range of communication services to businesses operating in the pharmaceutical and life science sectors, coordinated the company’s efforts, said: “The East Cheshire Hospice Corporate Challenge was a very rewarding experience for all involved. It was hard work at times, but it was worth it knowing that we were supporting such a deserving charity and important part of the local community.”

Ashfield also won the prize for ‘most innovative fundraising ideas’, which included ‘The Great Ashfield Bake Off’, which raised £250 early in the competition and gave Ashfield a strong start. Other activities included raffles, a staff café, ‘donut day’ and toastie sales.

“We were delighted to win the prize for most innovate fundraising ideas and the team are already looking forward to taking part in next year’s challenge.”

April Green, key relationships manager for East Cheshire Hospice, said: “Everyone at the East Cheshire Hospice is really very grateful for the support of companies like Ashfield Healthcare Communications.

“We rely on donations, so their support is vital to keep the Hospice running and able to provide care for so many facing life limiting illnesses.

“This year’s challenge was a resounding success with lots of money raised to help the Hospice – we’re already looking forward to kicking off the competition again next year!”
