The Peak District National Park Authority is calling for nominations to its new Planning Awards.

The new annual awards scheme has been set up to celebrate the best developments in the Peak District National Park.

Entries will be judged in four categories:

Best Residential – for conversions, extensions, and new build.
Best Non-residential – for commercial, quarries, and public buildings.
Best Conservation project – for any development relating to a heritage asset.
Best Landscaping scheme – for landscaping schemes relating to any other development, including quarry restoration.

John Scott, head of conservation and planning, said: “The Planning Awards will recognise and reward outstanding development where extra consideration has been taken to ensure the scheme makes a positive contribution to the special qualities of the Peak District National Park.

“We’re looking for schemes that demonstrate high quality design, innovation and craftsmanship, contribute to local distinctiveness and setting, and are sustainable.

“I hope people will take the opportunity to nominate exceptional developments that will inspire excellence in future projects in the National Park.”

Nominations can be made by architects, designers, developers, Parish Councils, Community Groups, householders or any member of the public.  The owner’s consent must be obtained before making the nomination.

To be eligible to enter, the development must be within the Peak District National Park boundary and have been completed since July 2015.

Full guidelines, criteria and online entry forms can be found at www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/planningawards.

Nominations are being accepted until midnight on Friday 12th October.

The winners in each category will receive a trophy crafted from Derbyshire Fossil Limestone – a unique local Peak District product – provided by Natural Stone Sales Ltd.

The Awards ceremony is to be hosted at Thornbridge Hall in November.
