Buxton Opera House spring season

Shining through the darkness comes a whole season packed full of shows to see at Buxton Opera House next spring.

Spring is always seen as a fresh start and the Opera House’s shows this season are no exception – with some familiar faces and some massive productions that we they can’t wait to tell you about.

Start 2019 in style with the Russian State Ballet of Siberia with three stunning productions. La Fille mal gardée may not be familiar to everyone, but it is one of the oldest ballets still regularly performed. Swan Lake is always popular with its tragic tale of romance and the festive season wouldn’t be complete without The Nutcracker’s magical ballet which will sweep you away into its fairytale world.

For a different way of celebrating the New Year there’s the Chinese New Year. This unique performance will explore the huge kaleidoscope of Chinese performing arts – packed with a carnival atmosphere it will feature impressive acrobatics and a 15-metre long Dragon Dance.

Britain’s Got Talent fans may remember the massively popular musical theatre group Collabro who were voted the TV show’s winner in 2014.  The successful group have continued to triumph since their BGT win, touring to packed shows across the world. Featuring songs from their most recent album Road to the Albert Hall this show promises to be their biggest yet.

Coinciding with the release of a film based on their incredible story, the original ‘bouy band’ Fisherman’s Friends are back. For more than a quarter of a century these friends have met on the Platt harbour in Port Isaac to sing songs of the sea.

If like most of us in spring you are trying to make some healthier choices, Dr Michael Mosley creator of the popular 5:2 diet may have some helpful advice in Trust Fast Health with Dr Michael Mosley. The international best-selling author will be sharing his knowledge of the human body and revolutionary new ways to lose weight, get fit and reduce stress in this informative but entertaining show.

An actor who is well known for his booming operatic voice, and which may remind you of the line ‘Gordon’s Alive!’ is Brian Blessed. An Evening with Brian Blessed will see Brian talking about his extensive career including anecdotes from Black Adder, Z Cars and of course Flash Gordon.

Another household name known for her TV and theatre work is Psychic Sally. The UK’s favourite medium Sally Morgan is back on her 10th anniversary tour. Her entertaining and jaw-dropping show has amazed theatregoers and psychic fans across the nation.

Finally, two National Treasures will be riding into Buxton, Si King and Dave Myers, better known as The Hairy Bikers,will be here for an epic night where they will be bringing their irresistible enthusiasm to an evening full of conversation and cooking. Si and Dave have been cooking together for more than twenty years and have travelled the world in pursuit of great food.
