Cheshire Three Peaks Challenge

Join in a popular walking challenge in the picturesque Macclesfield countryside.

The Cheshire Three Peaks Challenge, which starts at Teggs Nose Country Park at 8.00 am on Sunday, 16 June, 2019, is a brilliant opportunity to support Francis House Hospice whilst testing your fitness and enjoying the great outdoors.

With two distances to choose from, we have a route to suit everyone – regardless of walking prowess!

Shorter Route – 6.5 miles

Enjoy a 6.5 mile ramble through beautiful moorland, heathland and woodland. Whilst well-suited to families and less experienced hikers, this too is more than just a walk in the park and its difficulty should not be underestimated – you’ll encounter one or two steep climbs along the way! There is also the option to challenge yourself further with our Scavenger Trail along this route. Can you find all the items, spot all the sights and solve all the clues en route? The winning team will receive a prize!

Average walk time: 3.5 hours

Longer Route – 13.6 miles

Take on three of Cheshire’s highest peaks in the 13.6 mile route, tackling Tegg’s Nose, Shutlingsloe and Shining Tor. Winding through the scenic Macclesfield landscape, the walk encompasses Trentabank and Lamaload Reservoir, offering spectacular views from all three summits. Be warned; this route covers some very steep terrain and requires a good level of fitness! Lunch packs will be provided mid-route, freshly prepared by Tegg’s Nose Tea Room.

Average walk time: 6.5 hours
