Unlucky 13 for sheep stuck in quarry

Local firefighters had to use a floating pathway to rescue 13 sheep stuck in a silt pond at Dingle Bank Quarry in Lower Withington.

Fire engines from Macclesfield, Wilmslow and Knutsford – along with the Rope Rescue Unit from Lymm – were called to the quarry on Monday (25th March). On arrival  the team found 13 sheep were stuck in a silt pond in the old quarry.

The team used an inflatable floating pathway to reach the sheep and free them and bring them to safety, and the crews were at the scene for about three hours.
