Janet is Macclesfield’s new mayor

Cllr Janet Jackson, MBE, has been appointed Mayor of Macclesfield for the second time – previously serving as Mayor in 2014.

Janet has represented Macclesfield Central Ward for over 25 years – initially as a Macclesfield Borough Councillor, then a Cheshire East Councillor and currently as a Macclesfield Town Councillor.

Mum-of-two Janet, married to husband David, is a grandmother, chair of the Friends of Macclesfield Silk Heritage and is a patron of the Silk Museum.

She was elected to Macclesfield Borough Council in 1991 and represented Central Ward for 18 years until the formation of Cheshire East Unitary Authority in 2009. When Macclesfield Borough ceased she was awarded the title of Honorary Alderman in recognition of her services to the Borough and the Community.

She was elected to Central Ward, Macclesfield on Cheshire East Council in 2011, re-elected in 2015 and retired as a Cheshire East Councillor this year. Janet was elected to represent Central Ward on the newly formed Macclesfield Town Council in 2015.
