Wilmslow man charged with murder

A 43-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a body in Handforth.

Pamela Ann Mellor, understood to be 55, was discovered at the property on Meriton Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Matthew Bolland, of Budworth Walk, Wilmslow, was arrested in Weaverham Way, Handforth, at around 4 am on Sunday 18 August. Bolland has been remanded in custody and is set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, 21st August.

Shortly before he was arrested officers found a woman’s body at an address on Meriton Road in Handforth. Formal identification has yet to be completed but the woman is believed to be a local 55-year-old. Her family have been informed of the discovery and are currently being supported by specialist officers.

A 51-year-old man from Wilmslow was also arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to the incident. He has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.

No further action will be taken regarding a 57-year-old man from Handforth who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
