A new Mayor for Macclesfield

The sixth Mayor of Macclesfield Town Council, since its inception in 2015, is Cllr Sarah Bennett-Wake who was elected on 29th June, 2020.

Cllr Bennett-Wake’s theme for her year of office is Kindness, reminding us all to look out for each other especially during this time of difficulty when a simple act of kindness can make a big difference.

Despite social distancing measures, Cllr Bennett-Wake was able to open the Parlour barber’s shop in Park Green and the town’s cinema, Cinemac, on 4th July to celebrate the easing of lockdown. 

Cllr Bennett-Wake said of her coming term as Mayor, “I’m looking forward to meeting individuals and groups in person or virtually to hear about how their acts of kindness will contribute to the rebuilding of all aspects of our community.”

The Deputy Mayor is Cllr David Edwardes.
