From a Child . . . to a Child

The Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle wish to thank the people of Macclesfield for their generous response to our request to donate new and nearly new toys to be distributed to local children in need.

This is a new project for the local Rotary Club and in this time of coronavirus President Chris Watson was uncertain how successful this venture would be: “The response from people in Macclesfield has been tremendous and exceeded our hopes. Over 500 toys have been donated. Thank you to everyone. We are also grateful to the Local People magazine who kindly included our request for donations in their recent issue”.

Rotarian Jim Richardson on behalf of the Community Service team has worked with Rotarians and Friends of Rotary to collect, sort and wrap the toys ready for distribution to local groups to give to local children in need in time for Christmas. Jim is delighted with the response: “This has been a fantastic community effort. Hundreds of individual people have contributed toys, and also Whirley Primary School. We are grateful to Janet Keates and staff at the Gawsworth Community Shop who organised a box for collections from customers”. Janet commented: “I was really taken with the idea and it was a pleasure to help out. We are always pleased to take part in such valuable service to the community.”

Jim added: “We are always keen to listen to other ideas in which we could support the local community. Please contact us at macclesfieldcastlerotary@gmail.com ”.
