    Family Bushcraft Day

    Join Bushcraft expert Peter, from Red Oak Bushcrafts, for a really fascinating and packed day learning bushcraft skills. From shelter building techniques and filtering water through to lighting fires using natural materials (there’s more to it than just rubbing two sticks together!). These are just some of things you’ll experience.

    You will be amazed at just what you can achieve with nature’s help. This day is a fantastic opportunity to forget the frantic modern world and to tune out of Wi-Fi and tune in to nature. A fun and fascinating day for all the family to enjoy.

    Run Stronger Club - Tegg's Nose Taster Session

    Run by level 3 qualified Personal Trainer and experienced ultra-marathon runner, Dan Mayers. RSC is a personal training club, for those who prefer being outdoors to training in a gym. We follow a 12-month seasonal training programme to cover ALL angles for stronger, injury free running.

    No running experience required in this foundation training session, and no obligation to join.

    This session aims to deliver some key skills towards making your journey into running fitness an easier one.

    Introduction to Nordic Walking - June – Bollington

    The popularity of Nordic Walking has grown in the UK with a wide variety of people regularly taking part. Originally developed by cross country skiers Nordic Walking is a brilliant way to appreciate the great outdoors.

    However, it is not simply a case of grabbing a pair of poles and walking with them! It requires the correct technique in order to get the whole body working and it is essential you learn this from a qualified instructor who will ensure you get the full benefit and fastest possible results.

    Introduction to Nordic Walking is a FREE session which will cover the basics and benefits to Nordic Walking. You will get to try out the poles and the technique, and is led by a qualified instructor from the Everybody Sport & Recreation Nordic Walking Programme. Booking in advance is essential. If you enjoy this session there will be a follow on course to perfect your technique and then be able to attend our regular walks.

    Plein Air Painting at Tegg's Nose Country Park with Northern Realist

    If you’ve ever wanted to get out of the studio and paint outdoors, this series of workshops with classically trained artists Christopher Clements & Kieran Ingram, will guide you through everything you need to know. Both Kieran and Christopher are professional artists, Kieran has featured on Sky Landscape Artist of the Year and Christopher is the director of Northern Realist Drawing & Painting in Manchester.

    You’ll learn an approach which will enable you to interpret and arrange the tones and colours of the landscape allowing you to evoke the simple beauty of your environment.

    Work at your own level in a small friendly group, meet like minded artists and enjoy the beautiful scenery! All equipment is provided but you're welcome to bring your own, a list will be provided.

    Printmaking Workshop – Lino and Monoprinting

    At Macclesfield Riverside Park there is a wealth of inspiration for images from wooded areas to wildflowers and the lovely River Bollin. Local artists Patty Callaghan and Ann Robertson hope to encourage others to look more closely at these surroundings and explore them on paper, producing their own response in print.

    Both linocut and monoprinting will be offered and the course is suitable for complete beginners or those who are looking for further exploration of the media. Each participant should have a finished print at the end of the day.

    Work completed on previous course is available to see on  Ann Robertson’s website.

    This course is repeated on the 15 September 2019.

    Evening Stroll up Shutlingsloe

    Come and enjoy the stunning views from Cheshire’s second highest peak on this strenuous 5.5km (3.5 mile) walk. Bring a warm drink, to have whilst we rest at the top, and hopefully enjoy a spectacular sunset. Please also bring a torch / head torch and warm clothes for the summit.

    Introduction to Foraging – Tegg’s Nose Country Park

    A chance to learn the basics of foraging and discover edibles all around us, with a professional forager from Totally Wild UK.

    After arriving, at the visitor centre, we will go through the basics of foraging. Then we head out to discover the vast array of wild edible species that lie all around us. During the Forage your forager will introduce you to a number of edible species giving you tips on harvesting and correct identification. Whilst doing this you will have the opportunity to taste a range of pre-made wild food tasters from chutneys to jams.

    Summer Solstice with Greenwood Growth

    Celebrate the solstice with Greenwood Growth and enjoy traditional rituals with others as the Sun turns South. Use herbs and flowers to make a crown; build a Witch and decorate the trees . Share a feast cooked over the fire and enjoy stories drawn from folklore.
