SIMPSON SAVAGES THE SILKMEN
Macclesfield manager Gary Simpson questioned his side`s style after they were dumped out of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy with a 1-0 defeat to Crewe.

Teenager Max Clayton struck the crucial goal for the Railwaymen in the 75th minute to settle a hard-fought tie and Simpson was left unhappy with how ineffective his side`s passing game was.
He said: "Neither team worked the opposing keeper hard enough.

"And that was the problem with our performance. I don`t like passing it around too much without being effective.
"As the game went on I thought one goal would be enough to win it.

"We didn`t have the enthusiasm to get into the box with enough desire to trouble them. A few of the lads were off colour and we need to step it up."
