Event Information:

  • RISELEY STREET RESPITE CENTRE `NOT FIT FOR PURPOSE`

    Riseley Street respite care centre will close after the local health trust approved the plan.

    It means that some vulnerable people will have to travel 20 miles to another centre.
    The Learning Disability and Health respite centre was earmarked for closure last September.

    A consultation period then followed finishing in February with many carers fervently opposed to the plans.
    But final approval was given at a meeting of the Trust board yesterday.

    The Riseley Street centre, which costs
