Barnaby Festival Shop Window Competition

The Barnaby Shop Window Competition will be back in the town this June.

Shops, pubs, cafés and businesses are invited to get creative and transform their windows in celebration of all things Barnaby.

Using this year’s theme of ‘Industry’ or simply the bright colours of Barnaby, business owners are being challenged to create fabulous windows to awe and inspire passers-by.

Macclesfield Guild and Chamber of Trade will award £100 for the best window display as well as certificates and prizes for runners-up.

Judging will take place on 12th and 13th June 2014, just before the official opening of Barnaby and the all-new Visual Arts Weekend.

Secretary of Macclesfield Guild, and competition judge, Val Lloyd said, “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring the competition again. It’s a great promotional opportunity for businesses with shop windows. We will be judging on design and flair, content and interpretation. With its rich variety of industry and creative spirit, Macclesfield is the perfect place to do justice to the ‘Industry’ theme. We’re hoping to see a lot more than silk moths! Last year’s competition encouraged trade and made Macclesfield town look stunning.”

The 2013 Shop Window Competition winner was Roe 11 Hairdressing who used the theme of metamorphosis to depict a wondrous Alice in Wonderland scene.

To register for the competition, business owners should email: mail@barnabyfestival.org.uk. Windows need to be ready by 9am on 12th June 2013. For more information, visit www.barnabyfestival.org.uk
