Local MP meets the Shining Stars of Prestbury School

Macclesfield’s MP David Rutley MP took a tour of Prestbury Church of England School and presented Let Your Light Shine certificates to the pupils.

David started his day by meeting the School Council and learning more about the school, which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year.  After his time with the School Council, head boy and girl Finn and Maddie took David on a tour of the school.  Later, he joined the school assembly to present the Let Your Light Shine certificates to pupils.  David also told the school more about his work as a Member of Parliament.

Headteacher, David J Capener, said, “I was very pleased to share with David some of the work that takes place at our school.  The School Council appreciated the opportunity to share some of the initiatives they have led this year and to hear about the work David does as an MP.  ‘Let your light shine that people may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven’ is our school verse.  As a faith school, we are keen to encourage all members of our community to do good deeds and make a positive contribution to our community and wider society, so I was pleased that  David was able to join our Celebration Worship and present the Let Your Light Shine certificates to the children.”

David said, “It was a pleasure to visit Prestbury School.  It is clear that all children, staff and governors are working hard to meet their potential and the Let Your Light Shine initiative is a real motivator.  The school is a great example of the important contribution faith schools make in our community.  I would like to thank the School Council, staff and all pupils for making me so welcome and look forward to learning of more successes in the future.”
