Rotary Charity Swimathon – Another unqualified success

The annual Rotary Club’s Swimathon was voted yet another unqualified success.

The Mayor of Macclesfield, Counc Janet Jackson, who attended the event, said “It was marvellous of Macclesfield Castle Rotary club to organise and work so hard to put on the swimathon and see so many teams lining up to take part and raise money for so many different charities, as well as having a lot of fun”.

Alec Johnston from Rotary said “there were 43 teams competing this year and the team members swum over 100 kilometres and although not a record this year the teams are expected to raise nearly £10,000 for their charities which is a fantastic amount. Monies will go to scout groups, East Cheshire Hospice, disabled groups, Rotary charities and more.”
