Another successful Rotary Swimathon

The annual swimathon organised by the Rotary Club of Macclesfield Castle was another success, raising more money for local good causes.

David Rutley, Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, was on hand to help give certificates to finishers at Macclesfield Leisure Centre, as was the Mayor of Macclesfield, Cllr Liz Durham.

The five hour long event included 41 teams, with individuals swimming for up to forty minutes at a time. By the end, a whopping total of 6,211 lengths of the 25 metre pool had been completed, which works out at over 96 miles; the same distance as it is from Macclesfield to Hull!

Speaking following the event, David said, “I was very pleased to support this year’s Swimathon and it was great to see so many people of different ages taking part and raising money for worthy local causes. I would like to thank Macclesfield Rotary Club for organising the event and everyone for taking part.”
