The Buxton Well Dressing Carnival & Festival takes place between 3rd and 11th July, with Carnival Day 9th July. This free event includes entertainment throughout the town and is one of the largest Carnivals in the North West of England. The carnival includes a wide range of activities for all the family, including a duck race, treasure hunt, carnival parade and concert in the park.

Well dressing is carried out by a team of up to 50 local volunteers who work on the wells for three days, gradually adding all the natural materials onto the clay base to build up the designs.

Wells will be in place at St. Ann’s Well, the Market Place Well and The Taylor Well on Spring Gardens from Sunday 3rd July to Monday 11th July with the Well Blessing Service on Sunday 3rd July from 1.45pm starting at St. Anne’s Church, Bath Road, Buxton.

St John’s Church stands on the A53 St John’s Road, at the junction with the A5004 Manchester Road, directly opposite the University of Derby Buxton.
