Fraudster sent back to prison to protect the community

A serial fraudster who repeatedly returned to his old ways when released from prison by changing his identity to commit further offences has been sentenced.

Andrew Bondswell, 51, of Tynedale Close in Macclesfield is serving 21 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to 10 offences of fraud against vulnerable members of the community.

Bondswell committed his crimes during 2014 and 2015, using the internet to fraudulently advertise property for rent as well as mobile telephones and computers for sale.

DC Gerard Appleton, of Cheshire Police’s Economic Crime Unit, said: “The victims of his crimes were located throughout the UK including Chesire, London, Grimsby and the Isle of Man.

“The loss of around £9,000 has had a significant negative impact on the victim’s lives. I hope it is of some comfort to them knowing he has been taken off the streets and can cause no further harm to the community.”

Bondswell was sentenced at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday 21 June 2016.
