Appeal following attempted ATM attack

Police in Macclesfield are appealing for witnesses after an attempt was made to break into a cash machine. 

Officers were called to reports that offenders had attempted break into the ATM at Shell Garage on London Road at around 1.50am on Friday 3rd March

Detective Sergeant Simon Mills said: “It is believed that the offenders used welding equipment in an attempt to gain access to the safe contained within the ATM, but thankfully they were unsuccessful.

“This investigation is currently in its early stages and we are following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV analysis and forensics.

“London Road is a busy road, and as part of this investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and believes they may have witnessed anything suspicious.”
