Global rhythms in Buxton

The Big Session folk festival will be back in Buxton, taking place for an extended four days over the early May bank holiday weekend, from Friday 28 April to Monday 1 May.

Hosted by the Oysterband, a sparkling selection of music sessions, workshops and beer festival combine to welcome in May at the first folk festival of the summer!

Weekend tickets have now sold out but tickets to individual events are still available. English instrumental duo The Hut People will perform as part of the festival on Saturday 29 at 4.30pm in the Pavilion Arts Centre. Sam Pirt and Gary Hammond, have over the last four years proved to be one of the most unique, entertaining and best-loved acts on the UK folk scene today.

Mixing global rhythms with folk tunes from Quebec to Spain, Scandinavia to Sussex and everywhere in between, expect a quirky celebration of our rich musical heritage.

In fact their show is like nothing you’ve seen before, mixing feel-good dancing tunes, audience participation, step dancing, Québécois foot-percussion and humour aplenty.
