Macclesfield Sheepdog Trials

The Macclesfield and District Sheep Dog Trials Association will be holding their annual trials at Sutton Hall on August 4th and 5th.

But you don’t have to be a shepherd, sheep, sheepdog or farmer to enjoy the trials as there’ll be plenty going on to keep everyone interested – including a craft fair, demonstrations of country crafts, kids crafts, ducks, pigs – and of course sheep . . . and sheepdogs . . . and shepherds . . . and farmers!

Two open trials will be held; one on each day with the doubles trial being held over both days.

Competitors from across the country will be competing with winners going onto the National Championship.

Friday night will see a Tug-o-War, BBQ and Beer and the Saturday will feature the Craft Fayre and Fell Race with the ever popular Sunday Concert compered by Norman Prince featuring Terry Cotta

The Macclesfield and District Sheep Dog Trials Association held their first trial on the 1st September, 1945. There had been previous trials run from the 1920’s by Mr May of Wickenford Farm.

Everyone
is welcome to the Trials. Bring your well-behaved dogs on leads please.
