Police appeal for witnesses to fatal car crash

Police have appealed for witnesses to a car crash on Sunday, 23rd July in which a young woman died.

The collision occurred on the A34 Birrell Way at the roundabout junction with Manchester Road.

Demi Paige Grewer, from Burnage, suffered fatal injuries in the collision.

The 19-year-old, who had attended Priestnall School in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, is believed to have been on her way home from a birthday celebration .

In a statement her family said: “Our beautiful daughter and loving sister has been taken too soon.
Demi had an infectious laugh and was so bubbly, she loved life, her job and gave it everything. She had just turned 18 and couldn’t wait to start her adult life. We beam with pride as we see what a wonderful young lady she was. Our heart breaks as we have to say goodbye. She was truly loved by her friends and family and will be missed by everyone.”

The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man from Manchester, was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and has been released under investigation.

Demi, who is understood to have worked at the Pepita J Hairdressing salon in Cheadle as a trainee hairdresser, has been described by friends as a ‘happy’ and ‘bubbly’ young woman.

Police investigating the crash are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.
