Christmas card competition win for Lostock Hall pupil

Pupils and staff at Lostock Hall Primary School enjoyed some festive cheer at a specially-organised assembly, as Macclesfield MP, David Rutley, visited to announce the winner of his annual Parliamentary Christmas Card Competition.

This year’s winner was Alec Bingle, of the Reception class, whose cheerful snowman design will feature on the front of hundreds of Christmas cards being sent by David to local organisations, civic leaders, and Parliamentary colleagues. Alec received a special House of Commons Christmas gift as the prize for his entry, presented to him by David.

Lostock Hall pupils Archie Dale, from Year 4/5, and Emily Barraclough, from Year 5/6, were also highly commended for their entries, featuring Father Christmas on his sleigh, and a plump Christmas pudding, respectively. Their drawings which will be printed on the back of the Christmas card. The Parliamentary Christmas Card Competition is now in its eighth year, having run annually since David was first elected to Parliament.

On his visit, David also learned about the School’s new fundraising project, for the construction of a Sensory Garden for students with disabilities.

Speaking after his visit, David said, “My congratulations to Alec on his excellent winning entry – it was very difficult to choose from so many creative designs, but his snowman really stood out. All the pupils who took part should be very proud of their entries, which truly capture the festive spirit. I would also like to thank the teaching staff at Lostock Hall for helping with the organisation of the competition, and wish everyone at the school a happy Christmas.”
