Man sought following Congleton burglary

Officers from Macclesfield CID have released CCTV images a man they would like to speak to following a burglary at a Congleton restaurant.

The incident at Reubans restaurant, Lawton Street, initially began at approximately 2.40am on Monday 11 December when an unknown suspect forced entry into the building via an insecure window.

Once inside, the man conducted a search of the building before leaving the premises. The man then returned to the premises approximately one hour later, this time accessing the store via the back door. Once inside the suspect located the safe and ripped it off the wall using a spade. The man then fled the scene, taking with him over £2,000.

The suspect is believed to be a man, he was wearing a grey and black tracksuit, dark trainers and had his socks pulled up to just below his knees.

Detective Constable George Vlastos said: “Investigations in relation to this incident are currently ongoing and we are following a number of lines of enquiry.

“As part of the investigation I’m keen to hear from anyone who believes that they recognise the man featured in the CCTV footage. While the suspects face is concealed, he is wearing distinctive clothing, and I believe that somebody will know who he is.

“I’d also like to hear from anyone who believes that they have any other information, no matter how small, which could assist with our investigation.”
