Leek man charged over death of Steve Farrish

A 32-year-old man from Leek has appeared in court charged with causing death by dangerous driving after an accident on the A523 Macclesfield to Leek Road, near Bosley.

David John Leather, of Warrington Drive, Leek, was charged with causing the death of Steven Farrish, while driving a Ford Ranger in October last year.

Macclesfield born Mr Farrish, aged 49 – who was known as Riverboat Steve – was a musician who played regularly in the town.

Leather was also charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident, failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver of the vehicle.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address during an appearance at Stockport Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday September 25.

Leather will next appear at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday October 23.
