Death of the town centre
If you think that Macclesfield’s town centre retail woes aren’t being shared across the country think on.
Intu, the firm which owns the Trafford Centre and the Arndale Centre, has posted a huge write-down of its assets – with a loss of £1.17 billion for 2018.
Commercial property values – particularly in the retail sector – are currently in free-fall. Now is the time for Cheshire East Council to start thinking imaginatively about how our town centre can be effectively utilised.
