Can you help East Cheshire Hospice?

East Cheshire Hospice is here to give people in our local community choice, dignity and compassionate care that everyone deserves when facing a life-limiting illness.

Geraldine, whose husband passed away at the Hospice has shared her experience of the care her family received from East Cheshire Hospice:

“The Sunflower Centre was the place we looked forward to visiting. After months of appointments and treatments in busy and anonymous hospital waiting rooms and rarely seeing the same staff member more than once, when we came to the Centre we were greeted like friends and cared for like family.

We didn’t have to explain our situation to these experienced staff; they knew the journey we had been on…

Life changing for us was the support we received through couples counselling. The counsellor facilitated our ability to talk to each other about my husband’s end of life wishes and the future as a family without him. There was nothing left unsaid between us and once we had had these most difficult conversations we got back to living life to the full as best we could.

The intimacy, the humour, the companionship and love we had in those final months was because we had spoken about the unspeakable and had addressed my husband’s wishes and other practicalities. I know for sure we left after each visit calmer, re-energised and ready to face the next day in a better place.”
