Gypsy: A Musical Fable at Buxton Opera House

Curtain Up, Light the Lights – first night.

If it’s been a while since you went to the theatre to see a musical, or maybe you’ve never been to see one – get yourself over to Buxton Opera House where Gypsy is playing until 24th July.

With bitingly witty lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story) and iconic music by Jule Styne this is the perfect summer treat.

Gypsy tells the true, humorous and powerful story of the rise to fame of Gypsy Rose Lee, star of 1930s burlesque and her tempestuous relationship with her ambitious mother Rose.

Perhaps the best role in any musical, Rose is a force to be reckoned with as she throws all love interest aside, pushing her daughters June and Louise to stardom.

Truly memorable songs include Let Me Entertain You, Everything’s Coming Up Roses, You Gotta Have a Gimmick and Some People.

The whole cast are simply sensational and guaranteed to entertain even the hardest critics.
